Mission

Mission:

• To conduct research on all aspects of Byzantine Culture, namely: Archaeology, Art, History, Philology, Philosophy, Law, Science, and Folklore Tradition during the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine period. Special emphasis is given on studies in the Peloponnese and, especially, in Lakonia.
• To foster research in international level and establish collaborations with relevant institutions in Greece and abroad.
• To organize conferences, Seminars and Colloquia on Byzantine Culture and the relations of the Byzantine period with the Antiquity and the Modern World.
• To become a centre of postgraduate studies for students of the University of the Peloponnese as well as of other Greek and foreign Universities.
